Old newspapers provide a rich resource for the family historian, the first published in Wales was The Cambrian in 1804 in Swansea, soon followed by others throughout Wales. The first daily newspaper to be published was The Cambrian Daily Leader in 1861.

The Library has digitised over 1 million pages of out-of-copyright newspapers published in Wales up to 1911, these are available to search and view online free of charge.
