Aberystwyth's Young Designers Promote the Area's Attractions
Talented young graphic designers from schools in north Ceredigion have taken up the challenge to design a series of leaflets to promote a place of special interest to visitors in and around Aberystwyth for a competition organised jointly by Aberystwyth Rotary Club and the Ceredigion County Council’s Tourism Service.
The competition was open to pupils from primary schools in the Aberystwyth area and students in years 7, 8 and 9 at Penglais and Penweddig schools.
Councillor Gareth Lloyd, Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for tourism has praised the standard of the design:
“The four prize winners thoroughly deserve to be recognised for their work. They have researched their chosen attractions thoroughly and each one obviously has a good eye for design.”
Geraint Thomas of Aberystwyth Rotary Club, organiser of the competition also commended the standard of the entries:
“The competition attracted dozens of entries depicting a wide range of attractions. A great deal of thought and effort had been put in to all entries. My fellow judges and I were faced with a very difficult decision in selecting the winning entries.”
The winners were:
Primary schools:
First prize: Haf Evans, Ysgol Penllwyn, Capel Bangor - National Library
of Wales.
