60: Photographs by Marian Delyth
On 12th April 2014, a special exhibition of the work of the photographer Marian Delyth opens at The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth.
60 : Photographs by Marian Delyth celebrates a lifetime of dedication to photography and marks a milestone in the life of Marian Delyth as she celebrates her 60th birthday.
Photographer Marian Delyth said:
‘This year my eyes will have been looking out at the world for sixty years - that is a privilege for which I am grateful and its worthy of a celebration.
The camera has been my faithful companion these last forty years. As a student in Newport I became excited by the medium of photography and it has been held firmly, close to my heart all my life.’
This is not a comprehensive retrospective exhibition but Marian’s personal selection of 60 images that reflect a varied approach and exploration of lens media.
Jaimie Thomas, Exhibitions Officer National Library of Wales commented:
‘We are absolutely thrilled to exhibit Marian's work in her 60th year here at the Library. Visitors will be able to see Marian's development as a photographer in this autobiographical exhibition; from the first image she took as a little girl in her early journals to some of her more creative pieces of today. Selected pieces from her documentary work - for which she is best known - are also on display. These represent an important record of the culture of Wales and something which should be treasured for future generations’
