Lens 2014: Festival of Welsh Documentary Photography
Reportage is the gripping theme for the tenth Lens Photography Festival, held on 28 and 29 November at the National Library of Wales.
From its early days as an event promoting the Library’s visual collections, the Festival has grown and developed over the past decade to become a recognised discussion forum for professionals and amateurs alike. It also provides opportunities to enjoy presentations from some of the photographic greats.
According to William Troughton, the Library’s Visual Images Librarian, the tenth Festival will be a very special one:
“We are very pleased to announce that Homer Sykes will be taking part this year, sharing his experiences as a professional magazine and portrait photographer for publications such as The Telegraph, The Sunday Times, The Observer as well as the Sunday Express magazines. It will be an honour for us to have him with us and we look forward to his presentation very much”.
Amongst the other speakers at the festival will be James O Jenkins, Amanda Jackson, Neil Turner, Tina Carr and Annemarie Schöne. News from the National Library of Wales’ collections and on the Library’s MabLab project will also be featured.
FfotoAber Festival organisers will also give an update on recent events.
The Festival will begin on Friday evening, 28 November and continue throughout Saturday, 29 November.
