Tornado hits Aberystwyth

17.11.2016

The National Library is pleased to note that no one has been injured in the Library or any harm caused  to the national collections by the powerful tornado that struck Aberystwyth earlier today, although some damage was done to the building and parked vehicles.

Pedr ap Llwyd, Director of Collections and Programmes Public said:

"Matters could have been much worse. Thankfully, no one was injured but we had to move part of our collections to other parts of the building because of the damage caused to the roofs of the Library. We would like to thank the staff for their swift response to the situation, and contractors are already on site to complete emergency repairs”.
