Following the appearance of Lord Elis-Thomas and his officials before the Culture, Welsh Language and Communications Committee yesterday, Rhodri Glyn Thomas, President of the National Library of Wales said:
“The National Library of Wales sees its partnership with BBC Wales as one of utmost importance which has the potential to provide a cultural resource unlike any we have seen before. We therefore urge Welsh Government officials to meet with BBC Wales with the hope that we will see a quick solution to the situation before the Board of Trustees committees meet on the 1st of February to determine whether the application can be submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund; this decision will be discussed by Library Trustees on the 15th of February. Further delays, would endanger this unique project, which would ultimately provide public access to the most valuable collection of Welsh social history in the last century.”
