If you are completing a self-assessment tax return, you can nominate the National Library of Wales to receive any tax refund that you are due. The Government will treat this refund as a Gift Aid donation and the Library will get 25p more for every £1 donated - at no extra cost to you. HM Revenue & Customs will pay the refund directly to the National Library of Wales once they have processed your tax return and confirmed that a repayment is due.

What this means

  • If your tax refund is £100
  • HM Revenue & Customs will add £25
  • Your donation will be worth £125 to the National Library of Wales

To ensure that we receive your tax refund, please include our unique identifier number, SAQ45BG on your self-assessment tax return form.

Gift Aid

You can increase the value of your donation by 25% by ticking the Gift Aid box on your self-assessment tax return form. HM Revenue & Customs will then pay to the National Library of Wales an extra 25p for every £1 you donate. Please note that you must have paid sufficient UK income tax or capital gains tax in the year to cover the tax reclaimed.
