Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover, 'Gwenynen Gwent' (1802-96)

On 16 September 2000, the Friends of the National Library held a day school to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Augusta Hall, Lady Llanover. Around sixty Friends came to the Library in Aberystwyth to hear lectures on various aspects of Lady Llanover's exceptional contribution to Welsh life and culture. The lecturers were:

So much new and important material about Lady Llanover came to light in the lectures that there was a considerable demand that they should be published, and the executive of the Friends decided to publish them on the worldwide web. It is hoped that many people who were unable to come to Aberystwyth in September 2000 will enjoy reading them in this new form.
