These mining plans came to the Library from various sources. This core collection has been catalogued on the Library's Catalogue.

In addition there are a large number of mining plans in the named estate map collections, e.g. Gogerddan, Crosswood & Nanteos. The collections of Leonora Davies, J Llewelyn Griffiths & John Jenkins also contain colliery plans. Much of this material has been added to the online catalogue.

The Library is also home to a large collection of engineer’s plans that were transferred from the Coal Board. Some of this material has been passed on to local record offices. The collection arrived with a paper index, but is not yet listed in the online catalogue.

In addition to this (mainly) manuscript material there are also some published works relating to mining in the map collection.
