The Archive is fortunate enough to receive audiovisual material from donors. These donations ensure that the Archive’s collection remains rich and varied. Here are some examples of interesting collections:

Sir Geraint Evans Archive

The collection includes television programmes that the opera singer appeared in during the 70s and 80s. These includes programmes like the opera ‘The Beach of Falesa’, ‘Beneath the Christmas tree’ where Geraint Evans and guest celebrates Christmas, and documentary programmes such as ‘ Geraint Evans in Covent Garden’ when he re-visits the place he started his career as an opera singer.


Digital Storytelling

Capture Wales is the BBC’s award winning Digital Storytelling project which gives people of all ages the skills needed to make these short pieces. People are making Digital Stories about real life experiences and each story is as individual as the person who made it. These stories are now stored as part of the Archive’s collection.


Welsh Literature Archive

The Welsh Literature Archive project is looking at the future of literary archive within the digital world, how authors have changed their way of working, how they record their work, and what are the obligations for the future of archives in the library. The project collaborated with a sample of prominent authors from Wales and interviewed some of them. These interviews are stored in the Archive.


The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod

Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is a world-renowned festival of music and song. Various competitions can be hears and seen as part of the Archive’s collection.


Ceredigion Library Oral History

During the 1960s and 1970s, Ceredigion Library recorded interviews with people from Ceredigion. The interviews recorded the memories of these people, so they could be kept as a record of cultural life in the area. The collection was given to the Archive to be safguarded. Although some of the collection has been catalogued, the whole collection record can be seen in the catalogue index available at the Archive.


Y Gadwyn

The first Welsh language magazine for blind and partially sighted people. The magazine was established in 1992 by dedicated volunteers. The magazines are full of history, music, interviews and interesting stories.


Drake Sound Archive

In 1993 Cardiff Business Club started recording speeches made at the Club’s meetings, as a way of recording what speakers have to say to the Cardiff business community. These speeches are now part of the Archive’s collection, and have been catalogued.
