What are External Resources?

These are resources that the Library provides access to via subscription (i.e. they do not form part of the Library's core collections).  Examples include 19th. Century British Library Newspapers, Early English Books Online and House of Commons Parliamentary Papers.

How do I access these External Resources?

You automatically receive the right to access these External Resources when you apply for a reader's ticket, provided that you have a Welsh postcode.

Where do I log-in to view the External Resources?

On the External Resources page you will see a list of the available resources; choose the resource which you wish to view and click on the    icon which allows you to logon using your reader's ticket - enter your reader's ticket number and password to gain access to the resource. You can also search the content of these resources from the search box at the top of the External Resources page.

Why can't I access these External Resourcesif I live outside Wales?

The scheme is funded by the Welsh Government, and therefore to access this material you must have an address in Wales or a Welsh postcode.

What is Shibboleth?

Shibboleth is the system which controls access to our electronic resources, and enables our users to gain access to our External Resources from outside the Library.
