c.1929, 35mm, 3 minutes, Black & White, Silent, Newsreel, British Screen News
David Lloyd George walks through a garden (probably at Bron-y-de his home/farm in Churt, Surrey) accompanied by several dogs, and sits at his ease in a basket chair, reading a book. The statesman’s leisure time is being recorded for a newsreel item and he is perfectly at ease, chatting to the cameraman. C. 1929, the date assigned to this film, Lloyd George would have been Leader of the Liberal Party (1926-31) and, as he had been since 1890 and would be until his death in 1945, MP for Carnarvon Boroughs, but his star was fading.
