David Powel, vicar of Rhiwabon, at the request of Sir Henry Sidney, published his renowned 'The Historie of Cambria, now called Wales' in 1584. The publication is an expanded adaptation of Edward Lhwyd’s Brut y Tywysogyon, an important medieval Welsh chronicle. Like many of Powel’s publications, 'The Historie of Cambria' was written in Latin.
