Ellis Wynne was a religious writer, cleric and minor landowner. His volume 'Gweledigaetheu y Bardd Cwsg' is considered a literary masterpiece and a true Welsh classic. The publication presents a series of satirical visions that highlight societies’ sinfulness and immorality and Wynne believed that the Established Church was the only means of salvation. The volume was praised for its secure and impressive grasp of the Welsh language. 'Gweledigaetheu y Bardd Cwsg' also proves that the Welsh language was still an important medium of communication for some of the gentry in Wales in the eighteenth century.
