Y Bibl Cyssegr-lan, sef yr Hen Destament a'r Newydd

'Y Bibl Cyssegr-lan, sef yr Hen Destament a'r Newydd', published in 1630, was not unique in its content and in fact an identical edition had been in print a decade earlier. However, this version did possess an exclusive characteristic; it’s size. The 1630 version is known as the first family or every day Bible in the Welsh language. Bishop Richard Parry of St Asaph was initially considered as its main contributor, modifying William Morgan’s 1588 translation of the Bible. He himself did not recognise any other contributing partners. However, evidence does show that his brother-in-law, and one of the greatest scholars of his time, Dr John Davies, reformed and standardized most of Morgan’s 1588 translation.
