Henry Tobit Evans (1844-1908) was a schoolmaster, journalist and author. He was the headmaster of Llechryd British school for seven years, and then became a journalist and politician. He was a local correspondent to Kelt Llunain for years. He taught himself to print and set up a press in his house in Llanarth, where he published Y Brython Cymreig from 1892-1902. He was also the editor of The Carmarthen Journal from 1898 to 1904. He was considered an authority on Welsh place names.
