Manuscripts of the Rev. William Phillips, (1861-1944), Gwalchmai, Congregational minister, relating to his visit to the Welsh Colony in Patagonia in 1891. The manuscripts contain important descriptions of the country, the Indians and the lifestyle of the bachelors of the Colony.
The Rev William Phillips (1861-1944), Gwalchmai, was a Congregational minister successively at Harlech, Betws (Abergele), Penrhynside, and Llanfairneubwll and Llanfaelog. This manuscript relates to his visit to the Welsh Colony in Patagonia in 1891. It includes an account of his visit to the Andes and a short description of the mountainous landscape, September-November 1891; lectures and notes of lectures on Life in Patagonia; living in the country of the Indians in Patagonia, and 'What I saw and heard with the Welsh and Indians in Patagonia'.
