Who was Eluned Morgan?

Eluned Morgan (1870-1938) was the daughter of the Patagonian leader Lewis Jones. She was born on 20 March 1870 aboard the ship Myfanwy in the Bay of Biscay en route from Britain to Patagonia, and was given the surname Morgan (Mor-ganed – born at sea) at her christening. She was brought up in Patagonia but was partly educated at Dolgellau. For some time she kept a boarding school for girls in Patagonia, then acted as compositor and editor on Y Dravod while her father was in Buenos Aires. She was a renowned author who wrote numerous articles for Welsh periodicals, travel and children’s books. She was also a notable letter writer.
