Not just a Library…

The National Library of Wales is preparing for Christmas with the launch of its new online shop which will include; homeware, jewellery, prints, books, cards and stationery: many of which are unique and inspired by the Library’s collections.  As well as branded Library items, you will find ‘The Mabinogi necklace of Hidden Secrets’ by Menna Lloyd, ‘Big Surf at Llangrannog’ print by Ian Phillips along with a specially commissioned design from Lizzie Spikes depicting the Library at Christmas; as a seasonal greetings card.

“I was delighted for the opportunity to work on this design for The National Library of Wales.  I am equally pleased to have my work; which is inspired by my love of my native Ceredigion and by Wales’s unique landscapes, literature, people and places, for sale at the shop – both physical and online.  It’s exciting to see my work on display alongside that of other welsh designers and makers when I visit the National Library” says Lizzie Spikes, of Driftwood Designs.

Elaine Turnpenney, Shop Manager said:

“This is a very exciting time for us here at the Library with the development of our online shop.  This is our opportunity to share our products with a wider audience and by doing so; raising awareness of the Library; its work and its collections.”

If you fancy what you see online, why not take advantage of the full range of stock by visiting the Library shop for its late night Christmas shopping on Thursday, 3 December.  Also that evening; Father Christmas’ Grotto, and a live performance form the Library’s staff choir; Côr y Gen.  Enjoy an evening at the Library with a complementary glass of mulled wine and mince pie!
