Changes to Services 1 November 2021

At the beginning of November, the nature of some of the services within the Library building will be changing.  The health and safety of visitors and staff is a priority and we continue to monitor the risks associated with COVID-19 very carefully.  However, our latest assessment means that we are able to adjust some of our arrangements.

When visiting the building the following arrangements will be introduced from 1 November 2021:

  • It will not be necessary to pre-book a visit to the Library building.  Open access will be provided to the exhibitions, Pendinas Café and Shop along with the Reading Room (valid readers ticket required).
  • The building will be open between 10.00 - 4.00 Monday to Friday.

Please note that you will still be required to wear a face mask unless there is a valid exemption under Welsh Government Guidelines.

Reading Room Services

As part of a wider exciting plan to develop our public spaces the current reading room services will be permanently relocated to the North ReadingRoom. Significant maintenance work has been completed in the North Reading Room over the past few months to ensure that it is a comfortable space to work and access Library collections. Plans are in place to redevelop the South Reading Room to provide access to the new National Broadcast Archive and as a flexible space for participatory activities.

It will no longer be required to pre-book your space in the Reading Room, however it is still very important that collection items are pre-ordered at least 1 day before you visit the Library if possible.
