Singers and dancers are invited from all over the world to participate in over twenty competitions, which is followed by a concert at the end of the day. Famous performers at Llangollen have included Luciano Pavarotti.

The event was founded in 1992, and in the early years it was held in the streets of the town before moving to the Marian Mawr site for a while. It is now back in the centre of the town, and turns the streets of Dolgellau into a lively folk festival, with music, literature, comedy and children’s activities that are staged across various locations.
