The National Library at the National Eisteddfod
The National Library will again be at the National Eisteddfod … but there’ll be a few differences this time!
Unlike in previous years this year’s Library stand will not exhibit photographs or collections in framed format. They will be exhibited as a photo stream on two large screens.
The main theme at this year’s eisteddfod which is held in the Vale of Glamorgan, is a celebration that the Welsh archive of the ITV broadcasting company is coming to the National Screen and Sound Archive Wales which is located at the Library. So, as well as enjoying images of the Library’s collections on screen, visitors to the Eisteddfod will also be able to enjoy old episodes of two of ITV’s comedy classics for S4C, Torri Gwynt and Teulu’r Mans.
And to continue on the ITV theme, there will be daily events from Monday to Friday on the stand. They include informal interviews with former presenters on ITV and Welsh television; Dai Jones, Llanilar; Jenny Ogwen; Hywel Gwynfryn; Dewi Pws and Elinor Jones.
As in previous years, eisteddfodwyr will also be able to enjoy free daily music as bands and individuals perform on the Library’s stand: Greta Isaac; Brigyn, Ynyr Llwyd, Al Lewis and Heather Jones.
There will also be special welcome this year to those who stay at the Eisteddfod’s Caravan Site. In cooperation with our sister organisation, the National Museum of Wales, the Library will distribute an A5 flyer to all caravanners. The flyer will entitle holders to a 10% discount at the Library’s shop on the stand.
