Venturing into Snowdonia

The National Library of Wales (the Library) Shop faces a busy period during autumn 2015 as it ventures further afield with its stock.

The Library has formed an agreement with Snowdonia National Park Authority to place goods from its shop, in their centres within the Snowdonia National Park, including the Betws y Coed Visitor Centre.

Awel Gruffydd, Commercial Manager for the centres said:

“Working with the Library is an exciting opportunity for us.  Not only will we raise awareness of the Library amongst our visitors, the goods seen in Betws y Coed are inspired by Snowdonia’s special features.  I very much look forward to sell prints by Kyffin Williams and Geoff Charles, as well as books, cards and crafts from the Library’s collections.  These items will enhance our range of items as we prepare for the run-up to Christmas.”

Elaine Turnpenney, the Library’s Shop Manager concentrates on developing a range of tasteful items inspired by the Library’s collections.  Items in the Kyffin Williams range are a prime example of this and include prints, mugs and quality greetings cards, showcasing elements of the artist’s work in an affordable form.

Elaine said:

“I’m extremely pleased for this opportunity to work with the Snowdonia National Park Authority by placing goods from The National Library of Wales Shop at the centre in Betws y Coed.  I hope this will raise awareness of the type of items we have on offer in our shop and will, in turn, promote the Library: its work and collections.”

Items have also been placed in centres at Aberdyfi, Dolgellau and Beddgelert.
