Cynefin celebrate the completion of local project
Cynefin will be celebrating the completion of a local project to study the history of the Hiraethog area on Friday the 26th of May in the Bro Aled Centre, Llansannan at 7:30.
A booklet and walk leaflet will be launched, which includes the fruits of the work of the local history society into life in the area during nineteenth century, the time of the tithe maps, and subsequently the tithe wars.
There will also be a chance to see for the first time a new website which is being developed at The National Library of Wales to show all the tithe maps of Wales. This website will be using all the information which has been transcribed and geographically located by the volunteers of the Cynefin project, which has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Einion Gruffudd, the manager of the Cynefin project, said:
"It will be a pleasure to launch the fruits of the work of the Bro Aled History and Culture Society in Llansannan, this is the history of the local area written by the local people, a really valuable resource. It is part of the Cynefin project which has reconstructed a tithe map of Wales, work done by hundreds of volunteers across Wales, who have spent thousands of hours transcribing tithe documents. I'm also looking forward to seeing people's reaction to the National Library's new website."
