Explore Your Archive

03.11.2017

Archives across Wales will be celebrating and showcasing the best of archives and archive services between the 18th of November and 25th of November 2017.

Explore your Archive Campaign aims to open the phenomenal archival collections held by organisations – public and private – across the UK and Ireland, whatever their size and scale, and wherever they are.
The campaign is owned by the sector itself and delivered by a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including The National Archives (UK) and the Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland).

Linda Tomos, Chief Excecutive and Librarian, The National Library of Wales said:

“Visiting an archive can take you on an adventure  and you may end up discovering much more than you imagined. Archives enable all of us to discover the stories, the facts, the places and the people that are at the heart of our communities”

Join us on the 15th of November for a full day of events celebrating our archives and collections. A Gallery Talk: On the trail of King Arthur with Maredudd ap Huw will he held at 11.15 a.m followed by a lunchtime lecture Locating the Legends: Archaeological Tales from the Royal Commission’s Archive at 1.15 p.m.

Archives are full of fascinating content to read, touch and explore, and most of it isn’t available online. Take time to explore  archives – you’ll be amazed to find what lies within.

Whether you’re interested in fashion, sport, food or UFOs, there will be something to inspire you in archives. To find out more about archives, and how you can start your  own adventure visit  www.exploreyourarchive.org  and www.library.wales
