The study of women’s history is becoming more and more important and the National Library holds a great number of collections and sources that relate to the history of women.
Amongst these collections are the archives of a variety of notable Welsh women, including authors, poets, playwrights, artists, teachers, politicians, broadcasters, editors, activists, campaigners, journalists, composers and musicians. The collections also include the papers of various societies and organisations.
Typically, the collections comprise material such as correspondence, draft works, diaries, exercise and note books, photographs, musical compositions and other personal items.
A selection of these collections are listed below and are evidence of the contribution that a number of Welsh women have made to the cultural, social and political life of Wales. By clicking on each collection, you will be taken to the top level Catalogue record for that collection.
Not everything is included here and if the collection you're looking for is not listed, you should search the NLW Archives and Manuscripts catalogue using keywords. Further details on how to search the catalogue is on our Catalogue help page.
