It's June and Summer has arrived! Why not type the word "Haf" ("Summer") as a general keyword search in the catalogue and see what Welsh materials are available in the National Library? A wide selection of results appears on the screen when the word "Haf” is entered e.g. books, articles, audiovisual materials and archival materials.
The pictures in this blog show a selection of some of the various "Summer" books which are located in the Library. The television drama 'Minafon' was broadcast on S4C in the 1980s, and it was based on the characters in the novel 'Mis o Fehefin' by Eigra Lewis Roberts.
The main character of the TV series 'Tydi Bywyd yn Boen' was Delyth Haf. A few photos from the series can be seen in the book 'Dyddiadur Delyth Haf 1991'. 'Haf braf' is Dripsyn’s diary [the main character’s real name is Greg Heffley]. The book is a translation of 'Dog Days' by Jeff Kinney [from the series "Diary of a Wimpy Kid'].

There are a number of works in the catalogue by authors who have "Haf" as part of their names e.g. Haf Llewelyn, Eurgain Haf and Lowri Haf Cooke. The books 'Ar Fôr Tymhestlog', 'On Tempestuous Seas' and 'O na fyddai’n Haf o hyd' are autobiographical publications by Elin Haf and Haf Thomas. Both Elin Haf and Haf Thomas are inspirational women from North Wales who have raised thousands of pounds for charities. At the beginning of the publication 'Haf o Hyd?', there are short biographies of the 11 authors who have contributed stories to the book. All of them have answered the interesting question 'What does summer mean to me?' What do you think of when you hear the word “Summer”? Best wishes during the Summer months!
