The Library is delighted to announce that we’re among the successful projects receiving £5,000 to explore new ways of improving learners' literacy skills. Adnodd, an arm's length body established by the Welsh Government to co-ordinate and commission bilingual educational resources, received 64 applications for the Innovation and Collaboration Fund, which were assessed by a panel of 12 experts.
We are in the process of developing "Dihangfan Llyfr-Gell" - a digital experience in the form of an Escape Room for learners aged 13–15. During the summer, three members of the Jengyd team (teachers who specialise in building Welsh language Escape Rooms) came to research the Library's collections. After exploring several themes, the story of drowning Cwm Tryweryn was chosen as the basis for the puzzles.
The puzzles are based on items from the collection - videos, photographs, maps, newspapers, archive documents, and a short story by Caryl Lewis. They are currently being converted digitally, with learners from local schools coming to trial them next month.
