Wales and the World Calendar

The National Eisteddfod of Wales is the largest of numerous Eisteddfodau that are held annually in Wales. Considered to be the largest music and poetry festival in Europe with about 150,000 visitor in attendance and over 250 trade stands. The festival travels, alternating between the north and south of Wales. It is the hallmark of the celebration of welsh art, language and culture dating back to as far as 1176.

The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is observed annually to awaken consciousness, defend the rights and environment of the world's indigenous communities around the world. According to the united nation, there are 476 million indigenous peoples in the world living across 90 countries.

International Youth Day is celebrated to raise awareness on cultural, legal and identity matters concerning the youths to the attention of the global community and to celebrate their potential, ambitions, diligence, passion and creativity which is shaping the society.

Dormition of the Theotokos is celebrated by the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic Churches.it is the commemoration of the death and ascension of Mary the mother of Jesus Christ.

World Humanitarian Day is an international day dedicated to recognising the sacrifices of every humanitarian worker all over the world and to specially remember those who died in the act of service.

International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief is a United Nations-sponsored annual awareness day to speak up against religious bigotry and persecution globally.

The International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is an international day selected by UNESCO to pay tribute and raise awareness on the transatlantic slave trade and the dangers of racism and prejudice.
