The Urdd National Eisteddfod is Welsh-language youth festival held annually. Its focuses on literature, music and arts. It was established in 1922 by Sir Ifan ab Owen Edwards with the aim of promoting and protecting the Welsh language. Organised by Urdd Gobaith Cymru, it has over 90,000 people in attendance annually with 15,000 children and young people participating in its various competitions.

It is one of numerous big annual Eisteddfodau in Wales. Singers and dancers are invited from all over the world to participate in over twenty competitions, which is followed by a concert at the end of the day. Famous performers at Llangollen have included Luciano Pavarotti.
