Bibliography of Welsh Printed Material

Welcome to the ‘beta’ version of the Bibliography of Welsh Printed Materials: a list of physical books recently acquired and catalogued by the National Library. This is a first step in creating a fuller bibliography of Welsh and Celtic Books published in recent years that are held here in the library. This initial version comprises a spreadsheet of bibliographic data: titles, names of author(s), publication information, subject(s), and material manifestation e.g. details of page numbers and illustrations. The list is organised broadly by subject as follows:

• Poetry
• Drama
• Juvenile works
• Biographies
• History
• Sports
• Art and music
• Photography
• Legislative materials
• Guidebooks

All the materials relate to Wales in some way – whether they be written by a Welsh author, published by a Wales-based publisher, or about Wales or Welsh life. The majority of titles have been acquired by the library through its status as a Legal Deposit Library, which gives it a right to one copy of each book published in the United Kingdom.

The Bibliography will be published annually and, in the future, will expand to include recent Celtic published materials more broadly, including books relating to Scotland, Ireland, and Brittany that are held here in the National Library of Wales.
