The Friends of the National Library of Wales is an independent charity (Registered Charity Number 1100010) established to support the National Library of Wales’ mission. Its objectives are the advancement of education, public knowledge and understanding through the promotion, support, assistance and improvement of the National Library of Wales through the activities of a voluntary group of friends.

The Friends of the National Library of Wales was formed in 1960 and since then has continually made a significant contribution to our national heritage in Wales. We greatly appreciate the support of our Friends, and new members are always welcome. Becoming a Friend, you join an extraordinary group of donors who share our passion for knowledge and Welsh heritage.

Our Friends help us to unlock collections, providing access for all to our treasures.

As a Friend, you will benefit from:

  • Exclusive access to a programme of events by curators and other special guests

  • Invitations to exhibition openings and other National Library of Wales events

  • Socialising with a group of supporters that share the same aspiration to contribute to the future of Welsh heritage

  • A 10% discount at the National Library of Wales shop (some exclusions apply)

We will provide updates about the difference your support has made to collecting, safeguarding and providing access to more of Wales’ national treasures.
