Wales Broadcast Archive
From the very first broadcast in 1923 when Mostyn Thomas sang 'Dafydd y Garreg Wen' to people in Cardiff listening on crystal radio sets, to on demand streaming digital platforms, broadcasting in Wales has transformed lives.
The On Air exhibition uses cutting edge technology to showcase some of the most significant moments in the history of broadcasting in Wales over the past 100 years. It includes coverage of events such as the drowning of Tryweryn, the Aberfan disaster and the opening of the Senedd, as well as clips from iconic programmes including SuperTed, Pobol y Cwm and Ryan a Ronnie. Also included are highlights from the world of Welsh music, sport and entertainment, and of life in Wales general.
