8mm, c.1940, 5 minutes, Black & White and Colour, Silent, Home movie, R J Jones
As MP for the Carnarvon Boroughs from 1890 to 1945, Lloyd George was a regular visitor to the Llŷn Peninsula, particularly to Nefyn and Pwllheli. Here, c.1940, he is seen paying a visit to Nefyn’s local show, perhaps with the intention of raising morale during WWII.
The Nefyn pharmacist was officially Robert J Jones but known as Robin. His film-making equipment was passed on to his nephew, John Glyn Jones, viola player and Brynsiencyn GP, who continued to film local, as well as family, events.
