Beibl i Bawb

Hengwrt, 01.10.21 – 02.04.22

An exciting exhibition to celebrate the four hundredth anniversary of the publication of the 1620 Bible, the standard text of the Bible in Welsh for nearly 400 years. This special exhibition, by visiting curator, Professor E. Wyn James, will explore the tremendous significance and influence of the 1620 Bible over the centuries; religious, educational, social and linguistic. It will also look at the life and contribution of the great scholar, Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, editor-in-chief of the 1620 Bible, and include items not only of major importance in Welsh history (such as the 1630 'Little Bible' and the 'Peter Williams Bible'), but also of international significance, including translations of the Bible by Welsh people into other languages around the world, and the iconic Bible Mary Jones received from Thomas Charles of Bala.
