Byd Bach Aber - ‘Small World of Aberystwyth’- is the brainchild of photographer Bruce Cardwell. The project celebrates the unique character of this special town and our community in the 2020s. Originally from Belfast, Bruce Cardwell came to Aberystwyth to study in 1981 and like many was charmed by the town and its people. As a self-confessed ‘people watcher’, Bruce’s aim is more than just recording people. Just recording people, he celebrates the vibrant individuality in our community. When encountering his subjects, discovering their stories and building trust is important to Bruce while capturing their personality.
Different collections of the Byd Bach Aber photographs can be seen at The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Ceredigion Museum, Bronglais Hospital and many shops and business throughout the town over the summer.
There will also be a series of events and activities to bring the exhibition and project alive to the community and visitors.
